Our members come from many different walks of life, but all of us share 2 common interests. The love for bikes, and the desire to help kids.
"We serve as a public benefit organization. Our vision is to improve the quality of life in our community by educating the public and making them aware of the steps to take in order to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the reality of child abuse. GOC is a Biker Organization also dedicated to protecting the victims of child abuse. Our alliances as Bikers allow us the ability to call upon resources that might not generally be available to the public at large. We partner with Child Advocacy Agencies, Victim Assistance Groups and others to raise awareness of the prevalence of child abuse. GOC assists these agencies by being one of many resources available to them; and introduce the child into our organization where it has been determined it would be beneficial in order to lend support to their family, and at the same time protect that child. Our members share a common goal in that we enjoy the open road on our iron horses and are here to convey an important message; "We stand as one prepared to protect this pricless resource"
The mission of Guardians Of the Children (GOC) is to recognize and react to child abuse and educate the public to do the same; to serve as advocates to provide strength and stability to families in crisis; and be an answer to the prayer of an abused child or teen for courage, support and protection.
“Don’t Let Your Silence Drown Out Their Cries”
The purpose of the Lil Guardians Chapter is to work alongside our GOC Barrie chapter and help support them at the youth level. This could include mentoring, tutoring or just being a supportive friend
When a child comes under our wings, they become Lil Guardians. This is a big deal to GOC. The party includes an adoption ride, a party and the presentation of vests with their own patches.
"Let me start off by saying how great our lives have become since GOC walked through our front door. My children were abused by a man that swore to protect them, respect them, and love them, their father. My son had become closed off, scared, and unable to trust anyone, but the day that my son met the extraordinary guardians is the day I saw light in his eyes again. I though I had lost my innocent boy forever but GOC brought him back to me. He now loves life again. He no longer is afraid to fall asleep at night, we can leave the front door open again without him hiding and crying all thanks to the guardians of children. Now my daughter was a much larger complication, she was angry, aggressive, lost, and lonely, she felt betrayed. Once her anger settled she then started to blame herself thinking that her father did what he did to her because she might have been bad and upset him. For a mother to learn all the is devastating, I hated myself for not seeing what was happening. When my daughter met the guardians she didn't know how to feel, she was harder to break through too. The guardians were understanding and patient and my daughter started to open up. My daughter is now more open with me not so angry anymore and no longer blames herself and I have GOC to thank for that. I finally feel safe again, I also feel like I'm not the only one that cares about my children and protecting them. I think in the beginning the best thing for my children was the love and support they got from the guardians of children, also the fact that they got to pick their own lil guardian names it made them feel like family. Every sporting event they have GOC is right there for support and protection. I couldn't ask for a better group of people for the support we needed. I am forever grateful for the things they do for my children and mostly for them making my children feel safe again."
